Prepares a variety of reports, correspondence, and other documents.Uses quantitative methods to analyze and recommend loss retention, loss limit thresholds, financial claim reserving, and resolution alternatives.Prepares annual department budget and works to develop and implement an allocation of funds adequate for each type of cost element.Reviews laws, regulations, legal cases, court decisions, and proposed legislation to evaluate their impact on VTA.Designs and purchases the annual Property/Casualty Insurance Program for VTA.Conducts risk analyses to identify and mitigate areas of potential liability.Establishes policies and procedures for all program areas in the Risk Management Department. Manages professional contracts for third party claims administrators, insurance broker, and actuarial services.Directs the administration of self-insured Property, Public Liability and Workers' Compensation Claims.Selects, supervises, trains, motivates, counsels, and disciplines staff.Plans, assigns, directs, reviews, and evaluates the work of Risk Management staff, programs, and functions.
